Description
This is a U.S. ARMY AIR FORCE issue high altitude face mask. These were worn by the bomber crews that were way up in the clouds who were on their way to rain hell fire down across europe and Japan. These were made for many years after the war but this one is a war time piece. These masks were first made under a navy contract but were used by the AAF. The navy WWII ones were made with canvas straps with buckles as opposed to the later ones that utilized elastic.
