Description
MRE (Meals Ready to Eat) meals - Case of 12 meals, about 500 calories each.
In the event of a natural disaster such as an earthquake, or a nuclear disaster or terror attack, ready.gov recommends that all citizens maintain at a minimum a three-day supply of non-perishable food. "You may need to survive on your own after an emergency. This means having your own food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for at least three days. Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone immediately. You could get help in hours, or it might take days or weeks."
MREs are the perfect answer to emergency preparedness. They last years, take up little space, are lightweight, can be eaten cold or heated (heater included), and provide the calories needed to sustain life.
Do not wait for an emergency or disaster to prepare - by then it will be too late. Make preparations now to protect yourself and your family. Not only is it wise to have emergency MREs at home, but a large number of hours are spent at work and having a case of meals ready to eat at the office or in your vehicle may also save lives.
Each MRE meal is packaged in a heavy duty, clear
plastic pouch that contains a hearty main entree, fruit flavored energy
bar, jelly packet, crackers, tea or coffee mix, salt and pepper, moist
napkin, matches, spoon or fork and a chemical heater. Unlike military
rations, the see-through pouch allows for selection of entree flavor
without breaking the seal.
Case of 12 meals includes at least three
different entree flavors with a 5 year shelf life.
The MRE is fully cooked and can be eaten without heating, but a military
issue heater has been included with each meal. Only 2 ounces of water is
needed to activate the chemical heater and your meal will be steaming hot in about 5 minutes. Simple heater use instructions are printed
on every package. Meals average about 500 calories each.
